TEST PITS
If you're planning to construct a custom home on a piece of vacant land without municipal sewer service, you'll need an on-site wastewater treatment system, also called a septic system. Permitting a septic system in Colorado requires 2 test pits dug in the area of the absorption field, so that the soil profile is exposed and can be evaluated by a competent soils technician, usually with the county health department. If you're interested in having 1510 Engineering dig your test pits, please Contact Us, we'd love the opportunity!
Septic System Test Pits
Once your vacant land is staked out and you have a rough idea where you'd like to place the absorption field, you're ready to dig test pits. 1510 Engineering will call for utility locates prior to digging. Test pits are backfilled once the soils evaluation is complete.

Test Pit Excavation
Test pits are dug in accordance with county requirements, and may vary by county. Test pits are a necessary part of permitting your custom home in areas without municipal wastewater service. If you're planning a custom home and ready to start the septic system permitting process, Contact Us today!
